How to find obsidian in LEGO Fortnite?

Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite becomes a highly valuable crafting resource after reaching the game's middle stages. Obsidian can be turned into Obsidian Slabs, which are used in multiple recipes to upgrade your tools and gear. Obsidian Slabs are crafting materials used to upgrade a workbench to Epic Rarity. This unlocks many new crafting recipes. Additionally, you can also use Obsidian to create Epic Pickaxes. 

Additionally, Obsidian Slabs are also a part of the crafting recipe for the Metal Smelter, a tool used to convert raw copper into copper bars. These bars can further be used to create new and better tools. While Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite has been a prominent item in the game since the beginning, its use cases have significantly risen after v28.10, the update that added copper and Brightcore in LEGO Fortnite. Hence, it is all the more important now that you go hunting for this important resource. 

Find Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite to create Metal Smelters and Epic Workbenches

Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite is only found in Dry Valley Caves. Not only do these caves possess Obsidian, but also other useful items like Brightcore and Copper ore. Dry Valley Caves are located only in Desert biomes. Hence, there are a few important items you should carry before you go hunting for Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite. 

Note that Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite can only be obtained if it is mined with a rare pickaxe or higher. To craft such a pickaxe, your crafting bench should also be rare or higher. Secondly, make sure to bring strawberry shakes with you. These items give you ten minutes of heat resistance, which will be helpful to you in a desert biome. 

After this, you can head out in search of a desert biome. These are characterised by cacti and getting the hot effect. These biomes are not too rare, so you should not have trouble finding one. Once you enter a desert biome, you should have no trouble finding and entering a dry valley cave, either. Make sure to avoid the lava inside the cave and keep your heat resistance on. 

Make your way through the caves to look for Obsidian ore. This ore is marked by glowing purple stones sticking out from the walls of these caves. Note that Obsidian is located much deeper in these caves than Brightcore. Therefore, do not be afraid to go excavating deep inside the cave. 

Once you acquire obsidian in LEGO Fortnite from these caves, you can walk up to a stone cutter and convert each piece of ore into an Obsidian slab. These slabs can now be used to create the aforementioned items, such as Metal Smelters, Epic Pickaxes and Epic working benches, all allowing you to progress further in the game.
