Dragon's Dogma 2 had a lot of hype surrounding the game prior to release, however, it has not met players' expectations. The game had received great critic reviews which further cemented player's expectations for the game. However, fans were highly dissatisfied with the final product.

The fan support for the game since its launch has been dreadful. Dragon's Dogma 2 has been getting tons of negative reviews on Steam. Most of the recent reviews for the game have been "overwhelmingly negative." Many players have also taken to the game's subreddit to express their extreme frustration with the state of the game.

The game's negative reviews are a sign of protest by players, asking for changes to features that they're unhappy with. This dissatisfaction has spread to social media where players are constantly tagging Capcom to ask for changes.

Dragon's Dogma 2 faces harsh criticism and negative reviews online

The launch of Dragon's Dogma 2 has been highly disappointing, with many issues in performance, gameplay and poor responses from the game's publishers. Given below are some of the main reasons why players are upset with the game and why they review bombing Dragon's Dogmad 2 as a form of protest.

Microtransactions

Microtransactions are one of the players' biggest grievances with Dragon's Dogma 2. These are a relatively outdated method of monetisation in video games. Games like Star Wars Battlefront II have already paid the price for their oppressive microtransaction systems by being heavily review-bombed and boycotted all the way back in 2017. Capcom has even responded to this criticism by fans. The publishers mentioned that most of the content locked behind microtransactions can be unlocked for free in-game.

Performance Issues

Multiple people have reported issues with the game's performance and a severe drop in frames, especially in areas rich with NPCs. There have even been reports that killing NPCs in an area has led to a slight increase in frame rate. The issue is pertinent on all three platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC. No matter how high-end your PC is, it does not seem to make too much of a difference.

Fast-Travel in Dragon's Dogma 2

The fast travel system in Dragon's Dogma 2 has become extremely bothersome for the players. The game's director, Hideaki Itsuno, believes that a fast-travel system is not required if one can make the travelling process fun. Thus, players would be encouraged to traverse the map on foot and would not require a fast-travel system. However, this ideology has not been implemented fully well.

Traversing across the huge map can get quite tiring. Additionally, the fast-travel system is highly limited. There are only two naturally-spawning fast-travel points, and the player has to unlock and place the other points. Additionally, fast travelling is a highly expensive process in the game.

Save Features

Dragon's Dogma 2 has also been facing severe issues related to its save system. A major issue related to the game's save system is changing your character's appearance. Changing your character's appearance requires the Art of Metamorphosis item. Considering that this is a highly rare item, the alternative is to start a fresh save file. The game does not support multiple save files for a character. Hence, to start a fresh save file, you must first disable your internet and then proceed to create a new save.
