Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2 are the primary method of fast travel in the role-playing game. However, they are pretty rare as the game makes you travel more on foot rather than depend on fast-travelling between locations. Portcrystals are structures present on the map that can be activated once they are interacted with. After interacting with polycrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2, you can teleport to them whenever you wish.

You need not be standing next to a Portcrystal to travel to another Portcrystal on the map. You can travel to a particular polycrystal starting from anywhere on the map. There are two types of Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2: temporary and permanent. Permanent polycrystals are already placed on the map and can be activated after they are interacted with.

Temporary polycrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2 can be placed anywhere on the map and travelled to later on. They can also be picked up and moved if you are not satisfied with the placement of the crystal. You can only place ten of these at a time. Each use of a Portcrystal requires a Ferrystone. Ferrystones are rare resources, found scattered across the world or purchased for 10,000 gold. Hence, make sure you use the fast-travel feature sparingly.

Find and Purchase Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2

There are only two permanent polycrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2. One of these is located next to the Vernworth Inn. The other one is close to the Stormwind cave in Harve village. You will find it outside a hut by the pier. There are no permanent polycrystals in Bakbattahl city. Any other locations you wish to fast-travel to must be done so manually by placing down temporary polycrystals.

You can unlock temporary polycrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2 by completing the following missions/quests -

  • Feast of Deception
  • A Trial of Archery
  • Sphinx Riddle of Madness
  • Riddle of Conviction

Another temporary polycrystal can be found in the Misty Marshes. Visit Griffin's Nest and redeem your temporary polycrystal. If you wish to unlock more temporary polycrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2, you must purchase them from a vendor.

However, this vendor is only unlocked in the late game after you have significantly progressed through the campaign. The Flickering Shadows Quest of the campaign requires you to talk to the oracle and the dragonforged.

After this, you will unlock the Dragonforged merchant, who lives in a nearby cave and sells both items related to fast travel in the game: Temporary portcrystals and Ferrystones. Additionally, he also sells unmaking arrows.

Note that he does not accept gold as currency, and you will rather be required Wyrmslife Crystals. You can now purchase Temporary Portcrystals in Dragon's Dogma 2 for 20 Wyrmslife crystals a piece.
