During the 2023 Valorant Champions Tour, Paper Rex coach announced that their star player Wang 'Jinggg' Jing would not be a part of their squad for the next season of the VCT. Fans were disheartened to hear the news, as Jinggg had been a key playmaker for the squad, and had even gotten them to the finals of the Valorant Champions 2023. The reason for Jinggg leaving the squad was the military service mandated by the Singaporean Government for all male citizens above the age of 18.

Jinggg was drafted into the military during the tournament and knew he would be leaving the squad soon to serve in National Service (NS) for his country. After playing his final game for the team in the AfreecaTV Valorant League, Jinggg announced his retirement and was set to depart. However, thankfully for Paper Rex fans, it appears that Jinggg will not be required to leave Paper Rex anytime soon.

After his tenure for Paper Rex in VCT 2023, Jinggg returned to Singapore and enlisted in the military. However, his medical reports deemed him unfit for service due to a particular lifelong medical condition.

Paper Rex assured the fans that the condition was manageable with ongoing treatment and did not hinder him in his eSports career. Out of respect for the player and his family, the organisation decided not to disclose the nature of the condition. During his enlistment and medical examination, Jinggg was still signed as a reserve player for the organisation.
However, he will now be brought back to the main roster. Monyet, who took Jinggg's place during his absence, has now been sent to the reserve role.

Paper Rex acknowledged Monyet's role and thanked the player for stepping up when he was needed. They mentioned how well he was fitting into the Paper Rex roster and even helped the team get a top 3 finish in the recently concluded Valorant Masters Madrid tournament. The current Paper Rex Valorant roster stands as follows -

  • mindfreak
  • f0rsakeN
  • d4v41
  • something
  • Jinggg
  • Monyet (reserve)
  • Alecks (coach)

Additionally, Paper Rex revealed that not only had Jinggg returned to their roster, but he had also signed an extension with the organisation that will last until 2026. Paper Rex fans were ecstatic upon hearing the news and cannot wait to see the player back in action for the rest of the Valorant Champions Tour season.
