Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 has added several mythical elements to the popular battle royale. The new Greek-Mythology season has added several new points of interest on the map, such as Mount Olympus, for players to explore. The newly added content allows you not only to dress up as some of the strongest Greek Gods but also fight the Olympian Boss at an Altar.
The new Fortnite season, dubbed Myths and Mortals, is accompanied by an all-new battle pass, Greek God NPCs, new weapons and brand-new quests. These quests are a great way of earning some extra XP and progressing quickly in the game and in the battle pass.
One of these quests requires you to challenge an Olympian Boss at an Altar. Completing the quest will reward you with 10,000 XP. Along with a decent chunk of XP, defeating these bosses is also a great way to get your hand on mythic loot and incredibly strong weapons.
Challenge an Olympian Boss at an Altar in Fortnite to earn 10,000 XP
There are four Olympian Bosses available for you to fight. Zeus, found at Mount Olympus, drops a Thunderbolt of Zeus and Huntress DMR when killed. Hades is located in the Underworld and drops a Harbinger SMG when defeated. Ares will drop a Warforged Assault Rifle which can be found in the Brawler's Battleground. Lastly, Cerberus, found at the Grim Gate, can be killed to obtain a Gatekeeper Shotgun.
Altars can easily be identified by their signature golden glow. The Olympian Bosses are standing atop the altars located in their areas. You can approach the altar and use your interact button to start the boss fight. Doing so will drop the statues and anger the boss, starting the fight. Upon killing them, you will get the respective mythic loot.
Note that the boss fights are relatively tough. Approaching these boss fights with a full squad is recommended, as taking them out on your own can be daunting. Additionally, prepare yourself with decent firepower and shields before activating the fight. You may also have to watch out for other players during the boss fight, as there is a high chance that many people will be approaching the altars to acquire the mythic loot for themselves.
